2018 National Writing Project Midwest Conference

General Overview

Join us for the first annual NWP Midwest Conference!  Connect with Writing Project writers, teachers, leaders, and learners from throughout our region.  The NWP Midwest Conference offers a unique opportunity for Writing Project educators to share their work and learn from experienced peers in the field.   This year’s conference will focus on four strands of writing project work:

  • Classroom Practices: Emphasis on teaching writing and issues related to teaching writing for practicing educators
  • Site Work & Leadership Development: Emphasis on professional development, innovative institutes, and youth camps
  • College, Career, and Community Writers Program (C3WP)
  • Digital Literacy

Hosted by the Greater Madison Writing Project, the NWP Midwest Conference will take place on the University of Wisconsin – Madison’s campus.

We are currently accepting proposals for workshops and roundtable presentations.  Consider presentations that focus on one of our four conference strands:

  1. Classroom Practices: Emphasis on teaching writing and issues related to teaching writing for practicing educators.
  2. Site Work & Leadership Development: Emphasis on professional development, innovative institutes, and youth camps.
  3. College, Career, and Community Writers Program (C3WP)
  4. Digital Literacy

The National Writing Project Midwest Conference will take place at Union South on the University of Wisconsin – Madison Campus in Madison, Wisconsin.

Please note: Registrants of the National Writing Project Midwest Conference will be notified when room registration is available.


The National Writing Project Midwest Conference offers several options for lodging during the conference to attendees.

UW- Madison Campus Dormitory Rooms

  • Air conditioned guest rooms in Sellery Hall  offer guests high speed internet, bed and bath linens, a small refrigerator, drinking glasses, and daily housekeeping services.  Shared bathroom facilities are available on each floor.  Stay includes daily breakfast from Gordon Avenue Market located in the Gordon Dining & Event Center.
  • Double Occupancy $37.23 / night
  • Single Occupancy $59.23 / night

UW-Madison Campus Hotel Rooms

  • Hotel rooms in the Lowell Center include complimentary breakfast buffet daily in the dining room, wi-fi access, a fitness area and hotel pool with sauna.
  • Guest parking is available onsite for a minimal cost or complimentary offsite parking only a few blocks away.
